THE GANESHA STORY

Ganesha Riverside Eco Resort was born out of a life of travel, change and a dream to bring up my children in a natural environment in harmony with my philosophy of travel as a learning experience.

For me traveling is about the people and the culture. Being on the move every day is not conducive to real learning about the country, you are always only passing through and usually miss the real life, a life that you can't see if you are always looking out of a bus window.

We arrived in Kampot by chance, at the time I didn't know a lot about Cambodia. Right away I had a good feeling. The people were nice and friendly. The landscape was beautiful, mountains, river and endless rice paddies! On our rented motorbike, we drove around looking for a ideal location for the family home. On a small river loop, we found our heaven - mangroves, nature, and very friendly locals!

That was the beginning of Ganesha Resort.

We wanted to create a place that would not be just our home, but also a 'home away from home' in Cambodia for travelers who want to experience real Cambodian life and enjoy the surrounding nature. It is a place where you can bring your kids with you, and step away from the fast life, stay a while.

Most of our staff and builders are from the two villages around Ganesha. I have designed and planned Ganesha, but the work has been done my neighbors - on one side a Cham Muslim village and on the other a Buddhist village. The neighbors are always welcome to visit, some come to cut the grass to feed their cows, so we have no need for a lawn mower! We are very proud of the relationship we have built with our staff and neighbors, living in harmony in the Cambodian countryside. All our guests feel very safe and welcome.
I am 100% sure that I learned more from my neighbors than they from me and for these lessons I am very thankful! To experience the real Cambodia you need to get off the tourist track. Ganesha Resort is designed for people who like to experience new things and venture out. Stay for five days and you'll probably never want to leave!
